Shinka
The roots of Shinka take place in late 2019 on a trip in Japan, where bullet trains are a common way to cross the country. The information screens presented a specific typeface to update passengers about their travel status. In this serif typeface, latin letters are force unicase to match the proportions of the Japanese ideograms. These screens were the starting point of Shinka, establishing the core of the typeface as a monospaced serif. Growing up, the design took liberties from the reference, like exargerating the drops as big black point in the text's grey and creating a true italics that bends drastically to express speed.
